On June 26, a Letter of Intent for Cooperation was signed between the State Tourism Agency (STA) and UNESCO to jointly explore the tourism potential of the Silk Road.
The document was signed by Fuad Nagiyev, the Chairman of the State Tourism Agency, and Gabriela Ramos, the Deputy Director General of UNESCO for Social and Humanitarian Sciences.
The Letter of Intent outlines the intention to conduct research on the tourism prospects along the historic Silk Road and lays the groundwork for the future project to be implemented in this promising direction.
It should be noted that on June 25, Fuad Nagiyev, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency receiveda delegation led by Mrs. Gabriela Ramos, Deputy Director General of UNESCO for Social and Humanitarian Sciences.
During this meeting, various topics were deliberated upon, including tourism projects, efforts to preserve cultural heritage, increasing cooperation in promoting Azerbaijan's cultural and historical treasures listed as UNESCO cultural heritage sites, knowledge sharing in the field of tourism, joint promotion of shared heritage along the Silk Road, and other relevant matters.
